insects ~ beetle love

one for your face some to adorn yourself with

below: sapphire & diamond stag beetle brooch from 1890 & jade brooch by Iradj Moini 1980

above: Live tenebrionid beetle brooches came from Mexico starting in the 1960's- adorned with rhinestones & other luring gems, they are chained to your blouse. Supposedly they don't need feedings, but I assume like the bug filled mexican jumping they will soon expire without treats-everything does. Though gorgeous and appealing to my deep rooted Cleopatra senses, I feel bad for the little bugs, they have less choice in the matter than these gemstone ridden insects. If you ask me, I'd rather tether down some wasps to my shirt and teach some people about proper etiquette in regards to personal space.

& lastly one for your wall, of course.
