‘Cinderella’s Revenge’ by Emerald Faerie

I freaking love chandeliers! Obviously for the sparkle factor, but I am also attracted to the old world and regal quality of these glittery beasts. I don't own one, but have been collecting bits and pieces of them from estate sales and hope to one day get around to assembling my own....

This particular show stopper is inspired by the haute couture shoes of Terry De Havilland --designer Fiona Gall of Emerald Faerie bespoke lighting collections, created this magnificent Chandelier! 'Cinderella's Revenge' is Gall's latest sculptural lighting and fiber optic illumination. It echos De Havilland's glamorous materials used in his shoes, the shape of the 7-inch heels and the tools used in the process to create the shoes! That's is what hooked me! My favorite parts of making jewelry are the tools and stones.

Simply stunning with it's dramatic 8-ft drop, and fiber optic illumination. This chandelier is a sparkling altar to the love affair of shoes.Even more amazingness! De Havilland returned the compliment of this over the top homage by designing a pair of shoes especially for ‘Cinderella’s revenge' made of gold & silver iguana skin. How luxurious & exciting metallic iguana skin is! Just those words together on paper have me salivating. These special shoes are suspended in the apex of the chandelier. The shoes hang spot lit surrounded by a elegant curtain of glass, metallic chain, Swarovski crystal, and other carefully selected opulent details. Even Miniature magnifying glasses to allow viewers to take a closer look, and admire the craftsmanship!

Cinderella's Revenge has just been installed in the women's shoe department at Liberty of London and next up will be the subject of four film shorts by Catherine Taylor.

Underwater Architects

Holy Cow! I can barely contain myself! I am in L♡VE! Don't let your eyes fool you, these are not bedazzled cat turds you are looking at (though I quite possibly could be equally as excited by such a find). These mind blowing glitter shells are made by insects. Diamond and gold larvae cocoons- Spectacular! The genius behind these is a french artist named Hubert Duprat who began his work with larvae in the 1980s.

Trichoptera also know as caddisflies are the little devils behind these sparklers. The hermit crabs of bugs, the larvae create elaborate protective tubes from silk, pebbles, sticks, shells and whatever else they can find. They have been referred to as underwater architects.
Duprat brings the caddisflies back to his studio and carefully removes their original tubes. He then places the larvae in tanks with gold flakes, semi-precious and precious stones and the larvae began building their protective sheaths with these new luxurious materials. They have created tubes out of gold flakes, turquoise, coral, sapphires, pearls, rubies and even diamonds! I imagine them to be the kind of pet Cleopatra would keep.

Below are some pictures of their tubes would appear in the wild

This guy's design with the purple hat is not too shabby

Watch the little guys in action as they build my dream house one sparkling karat at a time!
