inspiration ~ pitch black and glowing

When I catch a glimmer of something glowing or sparkling, I am drawn to it impulsively, like a sea turtle to the sea. I rubber neck for bright colors, sparkles and anything glowing. And whats a more magical memory than holding glow worms up to the light, then turning off the lights and then waiting...waiting for the glow to fizzle out, if you didn't fall asleep first. Or spending hours sticking glow-in-the-dark stars to the ceiling only to have them fall off one by one. Or perhaps the chase of making a certs spark in your mouth with the lights out, the timing for this one I never did quite conquer. Things glowing from pitch black darkness you will never leave me unimpressed no matter how small the feat.

Finds from the Fotografiska

While browsing the website of the Fotografiska in Stockholm I cam across the work of Vee Speers and the amazing Lennart Nilsson, who I am absolutely in love with. He takes scientific photos of embryos and the human body, macro photography (my favorite kind) to the extreme!

Things of Another Time

train tracks crossed on the way to the beach, seaside train on the drive up to the tide pools, my grandfather's pocket watches.

My are my father's beautiful pocket watches that belonged to his father and grandfather. I am absolutely in love with them! They fill that void of a missing jewelry heirloom in my life! The Apollo pocket watch on the right was my grandfather's and the numbers and dials are painted in radium, which I find fascinating. The one on the left is a 14t gold filled Waltham watch that was my great grandfather's. There are two more in the shop and I can't wait to see how they turn out!
